Regenerative Architecture powered by Computation

I use technology to maximize design efficiency, enhance communication, and reach Triple Bottom Line solutions. A creative strategist, I work with R&D teams to develop new prototypes, products, and architectural applications; identify and target revenue opportunities; and resolve operational pain points.

I recently joined HOK’s Kansas City studio as a Senior Design Professional. Formerly, I worked with DRAW Architecture and Urban Design, where I was a core team member managing the sustainability approach and LEED Certification process for a $1B+ transportation-sector project. I worked with Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects (PCPA) from 2015-2018, providing parametric design expertise for multi-million square foot projects, and helped to establish PCPA’s R&D group, which involved managing an in-house continuing education program and an effort to develop Framework Planning tools.

Additionally, I have several years of experience in Business Development, Healthcare Architecture, and Academic research and teaching. I hold a M.S. in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University and a Master of Architecture with Distinction from the University of Kansas. I'm a current member of the AIA Kansas City Chapter's Pillars Leadership Development Program.

I’m always interested in learning about opportunities to collaborate or to get involved. If you’d like to get in touch, you can reach me at nm@nicolemater.com or via LinkedIn message.
